Ever walk into a store and immediately sensed “good service?” You knew that people there would tend to your needs. (The opposite is also true, isn’t it? You sense immediately you will not be waited on or tended to in that store). We just “feel” good service when it is offered. You might get more specific by looking for visual cues, merchandise, store layouts, or facial expressions, but none sufficiently explain the sure sense you have when you walk into a store and know you will be treated well. Something else is going on. You feel it although you might not be able to describe why you feel it.

As all addiction professionals know, one of the hardest things to do is to motivate individuals to change to abandon an addictive lifestyle. One recognized technique is to empower through education, that is helping people to blend their real life experience and with current research in a manner that makes the information accessible, understandable, and powerful; assisting them to make the connections between their behaviors, emotions, and addiction, thereby motivating them to strive toward recovery and sustain abstinence.

People come to gambling for different reasons, usually beginning with the entertainment aspect. Those of us who have developed an addiction may have started just that way, but then, for different reasons, the entertainment goes astray. In my case, it became a distraction — a way to hide, relax and numb myself to the challenges of everyday life.

All of your computers are obsolete. Perhaps that’s an exaggeration, but with the release of Microsoft Vista you might agree. Although Vista was not actually on the market until January 2007, prior to its release, there were some great bargains being advertised on the system. Retailers were scrambling to get rid of those “old” Windows XP Systems and as a result, you may have come away with a great deal on that computer you got for Christmas.
